BWA exhibits at Reading Town Hall

The BWA were invited to display their work at Reading Town Hall earlier this year. The display cabinets in the ground floor reception area were used. They proved to hold far more than we had been led to believe but nevertheless we were able to fill them. About 15 members took advantage of this chance to display their work. All feedback was very positive and hopefully we shall be able to use this facility again in 2008.

One of the reasons the club holds these public displays is to show off the work members have put in during the year. Another reason is to attract new members. Both were fully realised on this occasion.

Members of the club have an opportunity each month to show their work at the club meetings. These by their very nature provide only a small audience of other wood technicians. The chance to show to the general public has had to be paid for in the past. We as a club are trying to find venues which reach a wide public at little or no cost. Reading Town Hall was ideal.

The Wokingham May Day event was missed this year due to timing re club monthly meetings. By the time we were aware of the opportunity it was too late to notify the membership. Next year we intend to have a presence. The May Day event is only one weekend but attracts a large public so will be worth the effort. Hopefully we can organise power (15 amp) for our lathe to be working and give demonstrations throughout the event. Any suggestions as to possible future events will be welcomed.
